api.accounts.refreshBalance

Force a fresh read of a virtual account's balance, persist it, and return the updated snapshot. Use this to back a manual "refresh" control. For ordinary reads, prefer api.accounts.balance. Seismic keeps balances in sync as funds move, so the stored balance is usually already current.

The read is rate-limited to once per minute per account: within that window the stored snapshot is returned unchanged, so as_of may predate your call. That means the balance is already fresh. However many clients trigger a refresh, Seismic makes at most one upstream read a minute per account.

const  = await ..("5e3a…");

// Amounts are decimal strings in the account's currency, major units.
.(`${.} ${.} as of ${.}`);

Arguments: id: string.

Returns: Promise<AccountBalance>, the same shape as api.accounts.balance:

{
  "account_id": "5e3a…",
  "kind": "crypto",
  "currency": "USDC",
  "balance": "54.63",
  "as_of": "2026-07-07T18:04:00Z"
}

Virtual accounts only: external accounts throw a 400 error. Balances are only tracked for virtual accounts.

REST endpoint: POST /accounts/:id/balance/refresh.
